FARGO – North Dakota Democratic-NPL Senate candidate Tracy Potter is channeling former President Franklin D. Roosevelt as he launches a new kind of fireside chat, beginning this Sunday.
Potter’s campaign announced Friday that the Bismarck state senator will hold addresses at 9 p.m. every Sunday on his campaign’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, featuring a different campaign issue each week.
“This is a way to discuss things in more depth than is possible in 30-second TV ads,” Potter said.
Potter likened the campaign technique to Roosevelt’s radio addresses and Potter’s county courthouse tour, of which he’s completed 14 of 53 stops so far.
“The courthouse tour is old-school campaigning, and YouTube is right now,” Potter said. “But both methods are about presenting voters with more substance than can be done in 30 seconds.”
