FARGO – Media will not be allowed to attend the North Dakota Republican Party’s fundraiser next week, where former Massachusetts governor and 2008 presidential candidate Mitt Romney is scheduled to appear as the state party’s featured guest.
GOP supporters must contribute at least $1,000 per couple in order to attend the June 22 bash at former Sen. Mark Andrews’ farm near Mapleton, N.D. (Attendees can also shell out $2,500 to have their photo taken with the governor.) Money raised will go toward the state party’s campaign efforts this year.
NDGOP executive director Adam Jones said today the event will be closed to the media, because “generally fundraisers at someone’s private house are off-limits” to the press. However, Jones said arrangements are being made for media to interview Romney the morning following the event.
